The Data Tester will be responsible for validating and analyzing data within cloud-based environments, particularly the Azure Data Platform, ensuring the seamless flow of data between systems.  In addition, the role involves testing and validating the developed data engineering and ETL solutions, documenting artifacts and data sets, and actively participating in business requirements discussion to ensure quality and consistency across the development process.

Experience and Knowledge:  

  • Proven experience working with both Azure Data Platform and on-premises Data Warehouse system
  • Ability to transform complex Business logic into SQL or PL/SQL queries
  • SQL Proficiency – expertise in SQL for querying databases and validating data through the ingestion & transformation process
  • Understanding of Data contracts testing and concepts.
  • Demonstrated experience of automating tests across multiple platforms and technologies and understand its application throughout the full development lifecycle
  • Solid understanding of big data engineering and processing services, such as Spark, Delta Lake, Lakehouse architecture, and Data Contracts.
  • Testing data pipelines using Azure Data Factory/Synapse on Microsoft Azure
  • Demonstrated experience of working with automated testing tools (Azure Devops, DBT, Open-source tool)
  • Creating test strategies for Data Lakehouse projects
  • Review Data requirements, user stories, design and architecture documents: providing feedback to the key stakeholders on completeness, correctness, traceability and testability
  • Work closely with Business Analysts and System Analysts to understand requirements and design, and to formulate appropriate test scenarios
