M&T Resources have been engaged by one of our trusted clients in Insurance to find Mainframe Developers. 
 
You’ll be joining one of Australia’s largest insurers on a day rate contract for a new initiative kicking off in the new year. Initially on a 6-month contract with the view to extend. 
 
Remote friendly company – most people do 1 day a week from Sydney CBD.
 
Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and JCL.
• Analyze business requirements and deliver technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues to ensure system reliability.
• Collaborate on integration projects and system modernization efforts.
• Document processes and ensure code meets quality standards.

Skills & Experience

• Strong expertise in COBOL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and JCL.
• Experience with IBM mainframe tools (e.g., ISPF, TSO, FileAid).
• Knowledge of job scheduling tools (e.g., CA-7, Control-M).
• Background in insurance systems (policy, claims, or billing) is a plus.
• Familiarity with APIs and modernization initiatives is desirable.
